Thursday Apr 01, 2021
Award-winning Canadian rock icon Carole Pope talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about her new single “World’s a Bitch” a collaboration with Canadian electro synth pop trio Church of Trees consisting of band members Bernard Frazer, Tara Hope and Allison Stanton. The song and music video relay a stirring sonic snapshot of the angst felt and coping mechanisms tapped when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic and the world’s desperate need for vaccine distribution. The song is mixed and mastered by Jordon Zadorozny whose credits include Blinker the Star, Courtney Love, Chris Cornell and Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac. The pairing of Pope with Church of Trees came by way of former Spoons/Honeymoon Suite keyboardist Rob Preuss. While working directly but separately with each artist he had a light bulb moment & suggested Frazer write something that might suit Pope’s voice. With her hit “High School Confidential'' recently inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Carole Pope is the award-winning vocalist of Rough Trade and also known for leveraging her iconic status to openly table discussions around LGBTQ sexuality in her lyrics starting in the ‘70s. “World’s a Bitch” is one of several musical projects Pope is currently working on including “Attitude: The Art Rock Musical” a stage production based on the life of her late brother Howard a New York-based musician who passed away of AIDS in 1996. Listen: Supreme Icon Mary Wilson Interview
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
I was very sad to hear that the legendary singer Mary Wilson had died. I talked to Mary in this exclusive audio interview when she was appearing at the Richmond Ermet Aid Foundation’s event “Help Is On The Way 24 Celebrating Music, Legends & Icons” in 2018. Wilson was a founding member & longest member of the legendary singing group The Supremes. Wilson remained with the group following the departures of other original members Florence Ballard in 1967 & Diana Ross in 1970 until the group disbanded in 1977. Since then she released three solo albums, five singles & two best-selling autobiographies, “Dreamgirl: My Life As a Supreme” & “Supreme Faith: Someday We'll Be Together”. Wilson also used her fame & flair to promote humanitarian efforts to end hunger, raise AIDS awareness & encourage world peace. When I asked what her personal commitment was to LGBTQ civil rights Wilson stated, “I have been involved in this fight against AIDS & HIV for years & now you know obviously it’s become something that we all are aware of. So a lot of my friends are in that community & so I want to be a part because they are my friends, my very dear friends. For me it wasn’t even a no brainer. I do it because it’s part of what I do for the people I love.” We also talked about the civil rights movement in this country & the heartbreak of LGBTQ teen suicide which as a mother & grandmother she addressed beautifully about the importance of strong family values in these difficult times. Rest In Peace Mary Wilson.

New Thriller "The Girl In The Boston Box"
Friday Jan 08, 2021
Friday Jan 08, 2021
Chuck Latovich talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about his new must-read thriller "The Girl In The Boston Box" that follows two narratives linked by the urban legend of hidden rooms in the city’s historic buildings used for shocking crimes. First we meet Caitlyn Gautry pursuing a Harvard doctorate in architecture who chooses a controversial subject for her thesis based on the architectural myth of "The Boston Box". As she investigates this folklore she takes the reader on a contemporary and historical journey through the city of Boston as she uncovers this underlying mystery. The other narrative is Mark Chieswicz rejected by his family over twenty years ago because of his sexual orientation struggles to understand a cryptic clue about his estranged brother’s murder in a dangerous attempt to hold onto a life-changing but tainted inheritance. Eventually these two seemingly unrelated narratives cross paths as they expose tales of sex, death and scandal. "The Girl In The Boston Box" gives all readers whether heterosexual or LGBTQ a good time through a balance of an intriguing story with atmosphere, character and solid writing. One of the interesting factors about Mark Chieswicz’s narrative is that being gay is just part of the complexities of his character, not the story itself. We talked to Latovich about what he would like to accomplish with his new mystery novel "The Girl In The Boston Box" and his spin on our LGBTQ Issues.
Chuck Latovich moved to Boston after growing up in northeastern Pennsylvania to attend Boston University where he earned degrees in both Journalism and Education. Latovich has worked as a diversity and communications executive during his corporate life. Chuck has lived in the metropolitan Boston area most of his adult life and currently resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He loves to travel and often before visiting a country or city he likes to read books about his destinations which is one of the inspirations for writing his first published novel "The Girl In The Boston Box". Anyone who is interested in Boston for whatever reason will learn a good deal about the city by reading this captivating and entertaining book.

New LGBTQ Novel “No Place To Hide”
Friday Nov 27, 2020
Friday Nov 27, 2020
Life coach and author Opa Hysea Wise talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about her timely novel “No Place To Hide” a suspenseful page-turner that examines personal transformation amid violence and racial injustice. "No Place To Hide" besides being a must-read for mystery fans and crime junkies is also an unexpected source of inspiration and self-help. Heroine Smythe Windwalker Daniels anonymity is compromised when a threat is made against her life. She is soon confronted by the reality that this danger not only impacts her life but also the lives around her. She reluctantly accepts the FBI’s protection hoping that by doing the right thing her testimony will bring a promise of justice to a community. Then by learning from her past experiences new meaning enters into her present life and beauty appears in the midst of chaos. This kicks off a series of misadventures where she learns how all events are all woven together in this tapestry called “life.” In these challenging political times as a life coach Opa also sheds some light on how we all need to move forward together. It’s time that we all begin to dream again without fear and examine what we want out of our lives. Opa addresses how most people know what they don’t want in life but rarely tackle what they do want. This is also an opportunity to address belonging. Don’t buy into the fear that we don’t belong because we all belong. Stay in the present moment, focus on the moment and don’t get too far ahead of yourself. We talked to Opa about what she hopes to accomplish with “No Place To Hide” and her spin on our LGBTQ issues.
Opa Hysea Wise is an American author born to mixed race parents. She grew up across the fabric of the United States and currently resides in Nevada. As an adult Opa understood the deep need for connection that we as humans have. Like so many people of color she came to experience a sense of “otherness” the longer she remained in the States. Those experiences fueled her desire to discuss diversity as the woven fabric within the American tapestry. She worked as a Training and Development specialist and manager in Government and Corporate organizations. Often tasked to develop and deliver diversity courses, Opa brought a sense of understanding, compassion and a call to action to her audience with the firm knowledge that returning to the connection we all have as one body in this universe would be but one step to returning to love. Whether you want to embark on a personal quest for self-discovery or just want to curl up with an action-packed mystery "No Place To Hide" delivers something for everyone.
